Hilger Crystals
Hilger Crystals manufacture a range of synthetic crystals used for infrared and X ray applications.
Commercial crystal growing has been undertaken as a commercial exercise since the early 1930s in the UK.
Crystals are grown in house using custom built furnaces to ensure high quality uniform product. Special manufacturing capability assures a high yield process resulting in a cost effective products.
Hilger have over 50 custom built growth stations producing over 18,000kg per annum of grown crystal. Extensive processing capabilities are available to produce a variety of finished product.
Typical materials grown have been alkali halides, oxide and semiconductors.
The applications range from x ray detectors , telecommunication devices, infrared detectors, laser rods etc.
Materials such as sodium chloride, potassium bromide, potassium chloride, calcium fluoride, lithium fluoride etc can be supplied in sizes ranging from a few millimeters to 300 millimeters in size for applications in infra red spectroscopy.
Typical applications are beam splitters and windows for FTIR spectroscopy
Optics can be supplies in a variety of geometrical configurations either as blanks or polished
X ray detector crystals such a s Sodium iodide, cesium iodide, Cadmium Tungstate, Bismuth Germanate etc can be supplied as detector assemblies or position sensitive arrays.
Typical dimensions range from a few millimeters to 200millimeters.
Typical applications include radiation spectroscopy and security imaging.
Products can be supplied to specific end user design and can be supplied with short lead times.
